Faith Formation and Sacrament Prep.

Faith Formation

Invariably, every year someone will ask a very important question regarding the difference between Faith Formation and Sacramental Preparation. To some there may be no difference. Yet when approaching today’s catechesis as a life long experience to grow in one’s faith, opportunities are then seen as a continual conversion in their relationship with Christ, prayer and worship, as well as learning Church Teaching. Faith must never remain stagnant. Rather, being open to the Holy Spirit to enrich us everyday with the fullness of Christ through prayer, Sacraments and the Catholic Faith. This describes Faith Formation.

Formation in the Catholic tradition is a life-long process. In this thought, Blessed Teresa Parish offers ongoing Faith Formation opportunities for all ages. Our approach is based on the Catholic Teachings of the Catholic Church and will focus on the weekly Sunday readings with emphasis on its meaning from the age-appropriate point of view. Faith Formation is attended weekly, or twice monthly in Middle School, and is taught by the Catechist. . Confirmation follows this same schedule.

Faith Formation begins in the home, as the Catechism of the Catholic Church states: “Parents have the first responsibility for the education of their children. They bear witness to this responsibility first by creating a home where tenderness, forgiveness, respect, fidelity and service are rules. Home is well suited for education in these virtues.”

Parents are the most vital part of our children’s faith formation. We at Blessed Teresa will assist and support you in your efforts.
